Functional Information

The hMPV SH protein has been reported to regulate host immune responses. Viroporin that forms a ion channel probably displaying low ion selectivity (PubMed:24672047). Plays a role in counteracting host innate immunity by inhibiting TLR7/MyD88/TRAF6 signaling and STAT1 phosphorylation, leading to down-regulation of type-I IFN (PubMed:27131212, PubMed:29789500).

  • Membrane permeability: : HMPV SH expression can increase permeability to hygromycin B.
  • Membrane fusion:HMPV SH can decrease HMPV F protein-promoted membrane fusion activity.
  • Immunopathogenesis:: HMPV SH is thought to be important in immunopathogenesis.
  • Type I IFN signaling:HMPV SH downregulates type I IFN signaling through the targeting of STAT1.

Interactions

  • Interacts with glycoprotein G.

Post-Translational Modification

  • N-linked glycosylation at Asn76, Asn121 and Asn149.
